10 Takeaways from LCP Delta's 2022 New Energy Summit

After 3 years away from in-person events, we were thrilled to welcome our clients back to our New Energy Summit in Edinburgh to discuss the energy transition. Thank you to our sponsors Sunamp and Bright for joining us for the event.

We believe that if organisations think big this could be the last energy crisis. Here are our key takeaways from the presentations and discussions that took place.

If you would like to access the presentation slides from the summit, or find out more about LCP Delta research, please get in touch.

1. Interoperability (or lack of) threatens to hold back progress

2. Not enough customers have been sufficiently engaged or empowered to take action – but that is changing now the price shock is starting to hit customers

3. The supply chain is a big problem across the energy landscape, but there is pragmatic optimism that these supply-side issues will not become structural and long-lasting

Audience poll on the barriers to meeting the REPowerEU target and EV scale-up:

4. There will be a tidal wave of ‘green finance’ money seeking exposure to a global megatrend: the energy transition

5. In a crisis, there are opportunities: the challenge of higher energy prices means customers can now save a lot more money by engaging with digital and innovative solutions

6. The physical supply risks are very real as we enter the winter in Europe – a lot depends on how cold the weather will be

8. HEM is a big market opportunity in Europe but it needs specialist companies: big tech cannot define all the specifications in the energy sphere

9. The transformation of households into active participants in flexibility markets remains in its early stages, but the market activity and ambition of players in this space are very high

Audience polls on the most important factors and challenges for ensuring the success of demand-side flexibility:

10. The richness of learnings from an in-person event was obvious to everyone: quietening the conversations at the end of each networking break was not easy!
